1. a expedia, a trimite (implicând de obicei noţiunea de urgenţă).

2. (fig.) a trimite pe lumea cealaltă, a omorî, a da lovitura de graţie (cuiva).

3. a termina, a isprăvi, a lichida repede (o treabă, o problemă etc.);

to dispatch one’s dinner a mânca la repezeală.

dispatch II. substantiv

1. expediere, trimitere (de mesaje, colete, trupe etc.);

date of dispatch dată a expedierii.

2. execuţie, omorâre;

happy dispatch a) harakiri; b) moarte imediată (prin execuţie).

3. urgenţă, promptitudine, rapiditate;

with all possible dispatch cu toată rapiditatea posibilă.

4. depeşă, mesaj, document oficial trimis printr-un curier, raport sau dispoziţie cu caracter oficial / diplomatic etc.

5. întreprindere de transporturi rapide.
